DEADLINE FOR HOMESTEAD EXEMPTIONS

JUST A FRIENDLY REMINDER!!

March 15th deadline is approaching quickly.

If you are a business owner or a farmer, the assessment period began January 2, 2019 and the deadline is March 15, 2019 to avoid penalty. Our office hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

To qualify for any of the following exemptions the property must be your primary residence, the deed must be in your name, and you must be living in residence by January 1st, 2019.

Applications for NEW Homestead Exemptions — (if you have moved to a new home in 2018 and have not yet filed for your new homestead exemption, or built a new home and never filed for a homestead on the property, or if you have just never filed a homestead on your property at all you must do so by March 15th to receive this exemption for 2019)

Applications for Additional Homestead Exemptions for 2019 — (total gross household income for 2018 must be $20,000 or less). There is no age restrictions for this exemption and proof of income required.

Senior Valuation Freeze — (must be 65 years or older as of January 1, 2019 and have a total gross household income for 2018 of $61,700 or less for Osage County residents). The Senior Valuation Freeze will freeze the market value of your property not the tax dollar amount. Proof of income required.

100% Disabled Veteran — 100% disabled veterans and their unmarried widows can qualify their homesteaded property to be totally exempt from taxation. Disability must be service related — (Certified copy of 100% disability is required from the Office of Veteran’s Affairs and must be filed within the year in which making application).
